How We Began

As early as high school, Mary began pursuing her passion of working with children with special needs. It was during that time that she specifically felt the passion to serve families and children with autism. She began working with the Early Autism Project while obtaining a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Clemson University. While at Clemson, she worked and participated in several research studies surrounding children with ASD and other disabilities. Shortly after graduating, Mary moved to Virginia to further her career in ABA. There, she served as the Clinical and Program Director for in-home and community based programs with Molina Healthcare and Providence Human Services. Later, She participated in the opening of Virginia Autism and Behavior Consulting’s first Pediatric Center serving children with ASD and several other disabilities.

During her time in VA, Mary continued her education to earn a Masters of Arts in Applied Behavior Analysis, specifically studying Autism Spectrum Disorders. Later, She and her family relocated back to their home town of Spartanburg, South Carolina to be close with relatives, here, she would continue to serve families in the Autism Community. It was during that time that she witnessed the extensive waitlist and need for additional services for children on the spectrum in South Carolina. Carolina Behavioral Innovations, LLC was founded in 2017 by Mary to provide comprehensive and collaborative services to families with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She values and implements evidence based natural environment teaching principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to deliver services based on individual client needs. She and her team, strive to target functional goals that focus to improve independence in daily life skills.
